Palestinian-American Teenager Liberated After Nine Months in Israeli Custody

A Palestinian-American adolescent who spent 270 days in Israeli detention without being charged gained freedom.

Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old when he was arrested in February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where he was visiting on holiday from Florida for allegedly throwing stones at Jewish settlers, claims he consistently denied.

The US state department expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.

Mohammed, now 16, was taken to hospital for treatment immediately after release, family members reported.

They said he is visibly pale and thin, and experiencing medical problems developed during imprisonment.

In a statement, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Right now, our priority is getting Mohammed the immediate medical attention he requires following exposure to mistreatment by authorities and brutal treatment throughout his detention."

American authorities stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance to the teenager's relatives.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers submitted a formal letter to US authorities and the administration, demanding more be done for his freedom.

Mohammed's parent, with four children who runs an ice cream business in Florida, previously claimed his child admitted guilt to throwing stones due to physical abuse.

There were no visits or spoken to Mohammed since February, learning information solely regarding the treatment through judicial records.

He stayed lacking indictment at Ofer detention facility throughout the occupied territory.

It is also home to grown detainees, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations including killings.

An estimated 350 Palestinian minors in security custody being held in Israeli jails, based on prison authority data.
