The original stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear in the upcoming Hunger Games movie, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that beloved actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
An Important Return to Panem
The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their cameos will probably be featured in a brief glimpse ahead, as the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This represents the sixth film in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who was behind the majority of the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's events are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
The film welcomes several notable actors in pivotal roles:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a earlier incarnation of the calculating President Snow.
What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule
Separately, Jennifer Lawrence is receiving acclaim for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
Regarding the shoot:
